Hørby is a village 10 kilometres west of Sæby. The holiday homes here lie surrounded by rural peacefulness and beautiful nature. If peacefulness is not enough, there are lots of activities and interesting places to see in and around Hørby.
The castle Voergaard Slot, said to be haunted by the former lady of the manor, is certainly worth a visit. In June Hørby is home to a popular children’s song festival. In the picturesque town Sæby you have excellent shopping opportunities, art galleries, a charming harbour with good restaurants, and much more. Along the coast there are beaches perfect for children, for example Lyngså Strand, and a number of places suitable for fishing. In Voer Å the keen angler also have the possibility to catch trout, perch and European flounder (fishing license can be bought at the local grocer). Why not spend a day canoeing on the calm Voer Å? Canoes can be rented in Voerså and Præstbro – in Voerså there are pedalos for rent as well.
Here you can have a wonderful holiday in rural, peaceful surroundings - yet the sea and Sæby town are not far away. Along the coast there are several lovely beaches, one of which is the child-friendly Lyngsaa beach.
Golf enthusiasts have a wonderful golf course, Sæby Golf Club, about 8 kilometres away. Other golf courses in the region are Frederikshavn Golf Club, Sindal Golf Club, Hjørring Golf Club, Hirtshals Golf Club and Hvide Klit Golf Club.
Don't forget to visit Frederikshavn – the seaport with one of Denmark’s longest pedestrian streets. Along this street, and in its side streets, you find many shops, cosy cafés and good restaurants. The kids will love a day at either the huge indoor play area Fun House, the indoor “Caribbean” water park (The Reef) or the exotic Palm Beach. From Frederikshavn there are ferries to Læsø, Sweden and Norway – and going with the post boat you can visit Hirsholmene, a small cluster of islets just east of Frederikshavn.
