Only 9 kilometres north of Frederikshavn there is a lovely summer house area called Bratten Strand. The holiday homes in Bratten Strand lie among peaceful and appealing nature, close to a beautiful Blue Flag beach on the east coast. Close to the beach is a parking space, and a ramp makes beach access possible for baby trams and wheelchairs. An ideal place to enjoy a relaxing holiday close to the sea.
Here on the east coast of North Jutland the waves are gentle and the beach water shallow - making the beaches perfect for children. And, except for a few harbours, the coast from Voerså in the south to Skagen up north offers mile after mile of soft, sandy beach.
From a holiday home in Bratten Strand you can go on fantastic hiking excursions and for bicycling enthusiasts the bike path from Voerså to Skagen passes Bratten Strand and many of the region’s attractions. By car it’s 10 minutes to Frederikshavn and 30 minutes to Skagen. A request stop for the local train between Frederikshavn and Skagen is 2 kilometres away from the summer house area.
In Strandby, 5 km from Bratten Strand, there are cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and a busy fishing harbour which is also used as a marina in the summertime. For keen anglers there are many possibilities: fishing from the coastal beaches or piers, and in streams like Elling Å and Bangsbo Å you can catch trout or eel. For fishing in Denmark you will need a fishing license, which can be bought at official tourist information offices, camping sites and some shops. In addition there are several day-ticket lakes in the area.
Golf enthusiasts have a number of beautiful courses not far from our holiday homes in Bratten Strand to choose from: Hvide Klit Golf Club near Aalbæk 15 kilometres north of Bratten Strand, Frederikshavn Golf Club (6 km south), Sæby Golf Club (25 km south) and Sindal Golf Club (16 km west).
For families there is a lot to do and things to see: Farm Fun in Ålbæk with a lot of exciting activities and where you can meet and pet animals such as kangaroos, goats, llamas and pot-bellied pigs to mention a few. Watch birds of prey at Ørnereservatet (EagleWorld) in Tversted, or experience sea wildlife at Nordsøen Oceanarium in Hirtshals with (among other things) northern Europe’s largest aquarium. The kids will love a day at either Fun House, a huge indoor play area, the indoor “Caribbean” water park (The Reef) or the exotic Palm Beach, all in Frederikshavn. Why not spend a day at the big amusement park Fårup Sommerland near Blokhus at the west coast?
